A Tale of Two Cities
Building Digital Peace with Syrian & Canadian Youth
The Tale of Two Cities pilot project aims to raise Canadian awareness of the amazing resilience of Syrian kids who are under siege in the Syrian province of Ghouta.
The pilot “twins” a group of Syrian children (ages 11-16) who have lost at least one parent in the conflict, with a group of Canadian youth – to exchange information and viewpoints on what it is like to be growing up under siege in Syria. |
Both groups will be trained by SalamaTech on how to conduct an effective and safe social media campaign. They will then collaborate to run an outreach campaign to raise Canadian awareness of these Syrian children – their struggles, their needs, their hopes and their resilience. The pilot campaign will particularly target other Canadian youth and encourage active learning and acts of solidarity. |
A Tale of Two Cities represents an important opportunity for Syrian and Canadian youth to reach out to each other and directly engage, to develop personal understanding, empathy and solidarity, as these are the true building blocks for global peace. |
